MUJI finally brings their Platinum-manufactured fountain pens to the UK.
Despite having one of the most acclaimed “budget” fountain pens on the market, MUJI hasn’t sold the fountain pens on their website or in their London stores for over a year. But as part of their big Back to School campaign, the Brits finally get the new 2025 remodels, which are manufactured by Platinum.
I bought the polycarbonate one, which feels and writes very similarly to the Platinum Preppy 03, albeit with a rounder aesthetic. It’s a good buy at just under £10 with a case and two big ink cartridges too.
In the images I compare it to my previous MUJI fountain pen, the aluminium one from a few years ago. The new nib on these 2025 pens is better, but I am biased towards Platinum. I like the flexibility of their nibs.
